Didn't do anything last night because we knew we were heading off to New York today.

Got up early, drove a couple of hours south and then caught a train in to New York where we, (Andrea, Leanne and I), came out of Grand Central Station. This train station is huge.

On this day we sort of walked around a bit. We found a hostel where we could leave our bags first, which was next door to Harlem. Then we went down to Time Square after walking through Central Park. This park is huge too.

We went up the Empire State Building. The view up there is fantastic. From here you can really see how big Central Park is, and the whole city. Manhattan alone is massive.

Then, walking to Rockefeller Center we saw Ali G come out of NBC. I was stunned. Leanne was quick on the camera, where mine was in my bag. Damn. Said a couple of things to him, he hopped into a white van, and then drove away. I so much wanted to jump in the van and start talking to him, but what do you say to someone like that? Leanne and I spent the whole weekend spewing that we didn't say anything else to him, or get our photo taken with him. I think that because he came out of the studio with a camera on him, and that sort of threw us off. I personally thought they were filming something at the time.

We also went and saw a show on Broadway, just so we could say that we did that. It was the Lion King, and considering I don't like going to the theatre, it was actually quite good and I recommend to anyone that likes the theatre to go and watch this when it comes to your city.

After that Andrea had to take off home, so Leanne and I were left with finding somewhere to have dinner and a couple of drinks. What better place than Hooters. The food was good, the beer was good, the bar was good, oh yeah, and the chicks were awesome. After close we took off to our hostel and caught some shuteye before a big day the next day.

WHICH IT WAS! A lot more walking was done today. We went to Yankee Stadium, which unfortunately didn't open until lunchtime, and Leanne and I had no time to waste, so we didn't end up going on a tour. Then we went down to the ferries where there was a long cue with a full check for weapons. I was searched thoroughly because my "American" gum looked like a pocketknife in the X-Ray machine. After all the hastle we boarded the boat to Ellis Island. We didn't get off at the Statue of Liberty because people aren't allowed up it anymore so there was no point getting off. But I got some good photos from the boat anyway.

Ellis Island... What the hell is it? Well, we found out after we got off the ferry. It's actually the island where all the immigration offices were located during the migration period when America was first established. And there were quite a few of them. You can see a list of all the names that migrated, and there was even an Azzopardi. Only one though.

After lunch there we headed back to New York to go look at Ground Zero. It felt a bit weird taking photos here, but everyone else was doing it. Although a lot of idiots were taking photos of themselves smiling with the giant hole in the background. Now that's just wrong!!

I've added a couple of photos so you can see the views of New York before and after the events of 9/11.

We went back to NBC Studios for a tour, and I was pretty annoyed at the fact that if Leanne and I thought ahead of ourselves we could have booked in to go to an episode of Conan O'Brien. He is pretty funny.

Then back up north to grab our bags, and then back down south to Little Italy and China Town. These are pretty impressive areas. It's funny to think you can just walk into an area and it becomes another country practically. We ate at this small Italian Restaurant, which had the most awesome food. Just like at home, which always tastes the best.

Now it was off to Grand Central to catch a train back to New Haven where Andrea picked us up.
